Have they really? I assumed ultimately all you'd need to do is file some fake lawsuit or DMCA claim to get through to the host information. From what I understand you can try to obsfucate with LLCs but it's ultimately got to be traceable back to you for legal/tax reasons.

I'd be surprised if GDPR could protect you in the US minus being a minor inconvenience if someone were really determined. I'd look into it more, but I really don't have the need right now.
