Sure, they're different, I wasn't arguing otherwise. I'm just saying that the logic of some BTC maxis makes no sense when it comes to gold.
As for gold's supply, we can't know how much exists in the universe but we do have solid estimates on how much exists on earth. There's a reason it's considered a precious metal: it's rare, scarce.
Sure, if we were a fully spacefaring civilization, then the unlimited supply argument would be one to consider, but we're not there yet.
