I'm a biologist. When the palaeo fad started, I was curious and looked into it a little. Turns out that a) there's no way to eat what our hunter gatherer ancestors ate because it literally doesn't exist any more and b) human diet is incredibly adaptable and there is no "hunter gatherer diet". It depends 100% on what's available. If plants are readily available, it will be plant-based. If there's a lot of fish & sea food, that's what they ate.
