I'm also doing this on an olde 17" MacBook Pro with one of those early quad-core mobile Core i7 CPUs. Four cores, eight threads, but laptop's battery got too puffy — I had to remove it, so it's currently clocked at 800 MHz. Let's see how many *days* this would take 😅
