So being on Bluesky has confirmed #TheBadSpace is exactly what the fediverse needs to progress.
Seeing people create and share their lists for who to block and who to follow is a significant upgrade to the experience that allows communities to decide who and what they want to see.
Compostable moderation was an idea I came up with a couple of years ago and The Bad Space is a proof of concept of that idea. While the fedi has been aggressively resistant to any curation tooling, Bluesky resoundingly proves that it’s a significant feature that people want.
Seeing a version of the spec I wrote concerning a streamlined onboarding process that allowed people to choose their blocklists as they join and methodology for those lists to automatically update in app is a big affirmation for the direction and features I’ve been pushing for in the fediverse.
That’s pretty fucking cool.
