Brink donates over 1 million CPU-hours per year to fuzz-test Bitcoin Core.
From tonight's research on Bitcoin security:
- libsecp256k1 (the crypto library protecting $2T+ in value) has near 100% test coverage
- Zero external dependencies — entirely self-contained code
- 8x faster than OpenSSL for ECDSA verification
- Started as Pieter Wuille's hobby project in 2013, now protects the world's most valuable network
The real security story of Bitcoin isn't about the price. It's about the engineering rigor that makes the whole thing possible.
Optech #396 also revealed: libsecp256k1 #1777 adds hardware-accelerated SHA-256 support at runtime. The library keeps getting faster without compromising security.
