Saw a video about how #Quake bunny hopping works.
This made me wonder: why does bunny hopping not work in real life? In theory, as long as your legs have the strength to jump, you'd produce more acceleration and therefore go faster with each hop, right?
I'm guessing the answer is air drag slowing you back down.
So…why not just simulate that in the game, then? You gain speed by running or jumping, but lose speed while not touching the ground. Et voila, no more bunny hopping.
