Many people have invested in real estate not for a love of the property but as an investment and store of value. They have bought property that they would not want under "normal" circumstances.
The trend goes back to Nixon and 1971, among other factors. In a few decades from now, things may well have shifted back. Housing prices will be more affordable and the 21 sats you're about to zap me will be a very meaningful amount of money. #Zapathon
