I still don't know what the realistic alternative is for electronic communications. it sucks... but without worldwide regulations, it's just always going to find ways to suck for people outside the inner circle of beneficiaries

and I very much want to pay a company that can avoid that, but... they are competing with companies with near monopolies, so how _can_ they compete?
