I transitioned a couple of decades ago. Getting documentation changes in my area then required a doctor to agree. We did away with that, but now so many places are fighting against our very existence.
If you care about people, listen to trans people. We used to be kids too and having to fight the system as a kid (or just being unrelentingly distraught while missing a meaningful childhood) sucks.
