there are two different "dark forests". the "dark forest of the internet" is a newer term that means the internet is hostile and you need to protect yourself from it.
the earlier "dark forest" theory is a solution to the fermi paradox: we haven't seen anyone else in the universe because once two civilizations see each other, one of them annihilates the other. it's nothing personal, just that the game theory only supports one "winner", and being found is being extinguished
so, whether you want a "dark forest" social network is highly dependent on which definition you're familiar with
