USA has 5x the adult population than the UK, so a very rough guess would be 5x the funds available to invest. There's often a "home bias" to investments, but increasingly people are investing globally to spread risk, far more than they would have done in the past.
I'd also consider investment companies who have a relatively small % invested in each company, vs the ones with will buy a big % in one to put people on the board to influence directly, which can need US levels of $$$
