And a lot of the switchgear in the Benz feels very old compared to the BMWs; the signal/wiper stalk, which you have to twist to turn on the wipers, and the vacuum-operated locks feel straight out of the ’70s.

The M-B also feels much more utilitarian. The seats are the Mercedes-famous thinly padded and barely contoured buckets in front, and a park bench in the rear.
