So I got to installing the new taillight assemblies I bought for my Volvo 740 wagon only to find just how jank the install by the Kent(or maybe Auburn?) uhaul really was on the trailer light controller. They fucking ran the 12v line from the battery to the controller in the tailgate by going along the underside of the car, up behind the bumper, under the gasket of the driver side taillight assembly and into the opening in the body that the taillight assembly mounts in. What the fuck.

And they must have lost two of the odd sized flange nuts (10mm hex & 5m-0.8 thread) which hold the taillight assemblies in because there were only two nuts each to the assemblies when they’re supposed to be installed with three nuts each.

Said nuts are no longer available from Volvo and a weird size so I’m probably going to have to add in a flat washer with whatever nuts I do buy.

And I think I’m going to have to rip out the 12v wire feeding the trailer light controller because the new gasket on the new assembly won’t just form around the stupid wire like the old worn out and weathered ones.
