The first ship does actually "wait for you", i.e. its clock slows down relative to yours and it slows down so much it appears to stop at the even horizon — that is, until you go to the event horizon yourself.
(It also gets redshifted more and more to the point you can't see it anymore — again, until you go to the event horizon yourself)
