Here's my entry for #MedicineForHope
It was last year my husband was confined in the hospital due to Iron deficiency anemia.
At first he ignored having a dizzy and having palpitations. And still manage to go to work. He is a call center agent and his schedule of duty is graviard. Then one time he can't take it anymore as if he catches his breath. We decided to had a check up under from the HMO they had. The doctor advised to have a laboratory on the next day.
We thought we only go back for check up but when the doctor saw his hemoglobin was 6.4 and the normal range minimum is 14. He doesn't even met the normal range of hemoglobin for males. At first we were hesitant to go in the hospital for confinement but the doctor said it will lead to stroke and heart attacked because there's no oxygen in the brain anymore because the heart doesn't pump enough blood.
So I was scared from that scenario and we decided a confinement for him. He was blood transfused with two units or two bags of blood. It was supposed to be three bags but on the third bag his body reacts he had allergies. So the doctor stopped the transfusion instead he gave this Hemarate to maintain and add the blood supplements he has. And recently we rush again to the doctor because we decided to make it every other day taking his Hemarate but still he can't cope up his hemoglobin drops again. So the doctor refers us to a hematologist to asked for the opinion why he still loss blood because he's a male. Where it come from. For now we are still in the middle of the process. We need to go to the gastrointestinal specialist for more specific findings. But for now hubby needs to go back to work he was absent for almost three weeks already. Going back and forth in the doctor and for the laboratory tests. All I prayed everyday is to heal what he's going through. Thank you for this activity.
