The types of tactics and strategies we see specifically lobbed at Black and Brown people have a specific point of origin.

When people say I ‘fantasize about violence,’ this harkens back to a very old racist trope about Black folks being dangerous and primitive.

When people call me a scammer and a grifter, that’s a specific attempt to devalue the contributions of Black folks to society and try to contextualize them as worthless.

When people get angry because I wont apologize to my harassers, that’s speaks to this expectation that I should be compliant and subservient even in the face of dehumanizing behavior.

All of these efforts are to enforce white supremacy culture.

The conversation around moderation and safety is making it difficult for bigots to behave in hateful ways and escape consequences because we are talking and sharing knowledge.

This is the antithesis of white supremacy that thrives when we are divided.

And we know it’s an attempt to enshrine white supremacist culture in the fedi because of how specific these attacks are against Black and Brown people in this space.
