It's infuriating. If there's one matter on which local decision-making is obviously the right place for power to rest, it must be planning. It's local communities who are affected and it's their needs that will or won't be met by the proposed developments.
To let someone in London decide what gets approved in my neck of the woods (or anyone else's) is insultingly dis-empowering as well as inefficient
