A woman whose case I followed was told that although she had been given a kidney transplant while she was legally here and was dependent on immuno-suppressant drugs. The Home Office refused her leave to remain and planned to remove her to where she would be unable to afford the drugs that kept her alive. The HO accepted that but argued that her removal was "proportionate to the legitimate aim of maintaining effective immigration control.”
