Sounds like a Turkey Tail or False Turkey Tail.
I checked my other photos, hard to get an underside view of the fungi. Here is a shot further down the log, there might be an underside glimpse in the bottom right of the first bird/fungi shot, then two tighter crop views. Not sure if that helps.
