I don't use oil or anything so I think the microwave comes out quite well? I like my popcorn usually dry with a sprinkle of salt (or cheese powder, but I ran out of that, or sometimes powdered sugar). It's fast and doesn't require my attention so if I forget the worst thing that happens is I find stale popcorn in the microwave the next day. Weird, but not dangerous.

I have two of these little silicon tubes that each make one serving of popcorn, but I think they make larger silicon bowls suitable for using the microwave. Learn from me though: do not use a paper bag to do it. Or at least do not reuse the same bag!
