I just read Indonesians translating "Brown skin" as "Kulit Coklat" (lit. Chocolate skin, but coklat is usually used for brown, even in Bahasa Malaysia).
In Malaysia that skin tone is usually described as "Kulit Sawo Matang" (lit. Ripe Ciku skin, or reddish brown skin). Lighter/ yellowish tones are called "Kuning langsat" (lit. Langsat yellow). Both are references to fruit colors.
Or if they don't care about being polite, "Kulit gelap" (lit. Dark skin).
