I'm an interested observors in #freespeech. It's largely an exercise in semantics, but it's fascinating to me.
Almost no one would say it's okay to shout #fire in a #office block or a #church. Few people think it's okay to threaten someone, but after that it's all Overton Windows.
Some people think it's okay foor the far right in the UK to shout racial hatred, but some of those same peole wil baulk when US students shout pro palestine slogans.
It's rally clear to me you can't have absolutely free speech, because hat would make it fine for a large group to scream constantly all day at work.
People often draw adistinction between #government action and every other action, but this is increasingly off the mark as people gain real power through social media.
I think people who have real power must face real consequences, no matter how they accumulated that power.
It's all a question of degree. A lot of Americans think it's okay to own guns, but i suspect they don't feel the same about C4 or Hydrogen fluoride.
Does anyone think peple should be able touy these as long as the can afford them? #asknostr
