Today was the annual family trillium hunt, where we trek through the forest to catch the best photo of the first blooms. My son was the winner this year.

This is a protected plant here in Michigan, and it's illegal to pick them on public land. The Great Lakes region is the only part of the world where they are indiginous, and it takes each flower up to 9 years to bloom for the first time.
