i've never liked the terms upper class, middle class, and lower class (or working class) commonly used in the UK - i found the terms loaded with secondary meaning that places value judgements on people. Consequently i've always simply viewed life and society as a battle between rich and poor, powerful (those with power) and non-powerful (those without power) ... (and just look at the antonyms for powerful - almost all loaded as derogatory)
