To the extent that Las Vegas, and particularly the southern end of the "strip", has a unique charm, it is especially well hidden during the day, when the excitement and the lights give way to an aesthetic apparently inspired by a drunken marriage of an abandoned 1980's mega shopping mall with a second-tier theme park.
