Related: enwikifriends: is there a reason to prefer/not prefer use of interwiki links [[iarchive]] instead of just… a link to archive? Given that you have to cut a weird substring out of the URL, a URL is much faster; does anyone actually use the extra metadata provided by using iarchive: instead?
