Any fiber art preservationists here?
I have my grandfather's baby blanket (quilt) 🥺
But! It was at my mom's until recently. She smokes like a chimney.
What's my best option for getting the smell out of a 105 yo blanket? I have lanolin-free wool wash; I worry that it won't be enough, even with multiple water changes.
A (cotton?) backing was added to it before it was given to me and I think the fabric is stable, but I don't want to take it out of the bag until I have a cleaning plan in place.
