Wow it sounds so much like my experience of Occupy. I wonder whether this will be the iteration where history repeats itself as farce; that'd suit the moment I suppose.

I agree with you re: power struggles. If experience is any guide, whoever gains control of the IT (infra), social media (outward comms), forums/groups (inward comms), and finances will be the "leaders", and the vying for control of these things will at some point come to define the thing and may cause it to implode. Unless they actually figure out how to organize.
