AIF-Massachusetts on Nostr: If you are planning some kind of action, thinking of some kind of action, or ...

If you are planning some kind of action, thinking of some kind of action, or entertaining the idea of some kind of action, and it is not a peaceful protest that you are OK with the entire world to showing up to (including counter-protesters), then KEEP IT OFF SOCIAL MEDIA.

Publishing your political action thoughts online is an invitation to doxxing and harassment at best, arrest and imprisonment at worst.

Have those those thoughts and conversations offline or on a private and secure online medium. Do not have them in public.

We get that people are looking for new friends to be angry with, but making online friends with people over direct action ideas is a great way to get entrapped by a federal agent or end up doing something sketchy with someone you shouldn't actually trust who then rats you out.

There's a reason why everyone is suggesting starting with mutual aid, going to large protests, joining existing advocacy groups, or otherwise peaceful and lower-risk ways of getting involved. It's because that's the stuff you do so that you can meet the people you trust, who you can then take more risks with.

If you have spicy ideas and the urge to share them, write them down somewhere where no one else will see them and then go do something that builds yourself or builds community. Meet new people and strengthen existing relationships. Figure out who you trust with your privacy and who you trust with your life.
