This is a long article, but it is worth getting into. This is something that *resembles* a cult, but lacks the core features which make cults cohesive. These people may bounce off each other sometimes but it's really many, many cults of 1.
It's like a virus. It's self-replicating but not in an intelligent way. But it doesn't have to be intelligent to a) harm a lot of people & b) potentially keep evolving & become more dangerous.
