Let me get this straight. So, a Wi-Fi router projects a Wi-Fi signal irrespective of whether there is any data associated with it, or whether it's connected to the Internet, or whether it is traceable in any way, right? So someone could get a cheap used Wi-Fi router on craigslist, plug it in, name the network something like, I dunno, "Fuck ICE Immigrants welcome" and broadcast it across the neighborhood. Right?
Or, maybe, run a network cable up to a cheap cantenna on the roof and aim the signal at a particular government building or public space.
Asking for a friend. I have no idea why someone might want to do this.
