This is because
a) fewer and fewer people use the gas network and
b) gas network assets are now depreciated faster to avoid stranded assets and costs later down the line as Germany approaches its 2045 net zero target.
Those who installed a new gas boiler following the advice from some commentators now find themselves with rising heating costs.
