Here’s one thing I do know.
White people on the fedi are purposely antagonistic to Black and Brown folks. It’s not because they are ignorant or unaware of their tone. They know are being hostile because of their dislike of Black voices.
They admit this is private all the time to their peers all the time. I’ve seen the conversations.
They do it because they know other white people will see the hostile response ignore the initial comment that instigated it.
That’s how racism operates. It depends on preconceived notions to operate.
And no matter how a white person identifies politically, they all know how this works and will leverage it at the drop of a hat when they feel threatened in situations they instigate most of the time.
This insidiousness is a big part of fedi culture, which explains why so many people choose centralized platforms over this space.
