It would be so much nicer if, rather than forcing volunteer editors and reviewers to hunt for spelling mistakes and bullying authors for making them, scientific publishers could just pay for some proper proof editors, like magazines in any other industry.
It shouldn't be about being perfect; it should be about having a support system in place to pick you up when you aren't.
