Is it too ridiculous to infer that there was quid pro quo going on? Techlords pumped money towards PJ LOTR and made *demands* upon the production, I am suggesting, and they bought themselves a coarse crass trilogy of action movies that were just the ticket for selling tons of merch, not just "official" Tolkien merch but their own startup scams.
I think, when all is said and done, Peter Jackson will be revealed to be the front-man for a tremendous *crime*. A massive confidence trick was perpetrated under the false pretence of bringing J. R. R. Tolkien to modern audiences. But the true reason for the movies was corporate con-games of the worst description.
