I came close to crying today.

A guy I clean for looked at me and said, "You're worth more than I pay you. You're just a good-hearted person."

He probably didn't think twice about saying it. But I almost broke down right there.

When you spend years surrounded by people who take from you, erase your contributions, and treat you like a burden... a simple moment of honest recognition hits you right in the chest.

It almost broke the dam because it's the truth. And my spirit recognized it.

Those aren't sad tears. That's just a starved heart finally getting fed.

It reminded me of something important. The answer to being undervalued isn't to become a cold-hearted person. The answer is to remove the people who underappreciate your worth.

I am worth more than what I've been paid. I am worth more than the people who tried to use me. I'm glad someone finally saw it.

And the ones who don't see it? They don't get access to me anymore.
