But this is wrong on at least two counts:
1) B&K 2020 was talking in the first instance about LMs (not) understanding. We weren't talking about production.
2) We don't say that what's necessary is perceptual contact --- but rather linguistic experiences in which the language learner has external cues to the speaker's communicative intent.
