I made a deal with myself on a Monday: thirty days, one breakfast, one recipe, one story, every morning before the sun was up. No plan past the next plate.
What I did not expect was that the mornings would start running me instead of the other way around. By the middle of the month the cooking had stopped being a task and become the shape of the day. Same counter, same light, same six o'clock, no ceremony.
These are the thirty mornings as they were published, in order. The recipes are real and the stories are true, or true enough to cook by. Most mornings nobody was watching. That turned out to be fine. The pot does not need a crowd to thicken.
