Alliums into the squash beds! I got a half pound each of shallots, a wacky new garlic, and a dependable garlic from Adaptive Seeds. All three bags fit nicely into two beds.
Last year I grew three beds of garlic and it was like five times more garlic than I could give away. I’m trying to dial it back this year! (Counterpoint: it would be really satisfying to replant some of last years garlic. Surely I’ll have more friends to take strings of garlic next summer?)
The chickens were so puzzled. What was the not-food, and why was I burying it? And Nightlight was just delighted to hang out with me, as always.
