Gonna have a transhumanist splinter faction in my story.
They'll be the bogeyman, and rarely make actual appearances, but when they physically do, they'll use pale elf bodies. This is to keep up appearances that relate to the creation of said faction.
The fact that space elves are *cool* doesn't hurt either.
