it does depend on what you mean by "read" and "a book". For example, with non-fiction I get a book and work through examples, apply it to a set of problems and learn that way and skim through to the bits that look interesting.
I also sit down and read books but due to the vagueries of memory I think this is at the 10-15 a year level. What I also do more is listen to a lot of books being read through library subscriptions or the radio.
