A recurring discussion that comes up in fiction circles every few years is would-be writers who don't actually read.
Not actually interested in reopening that particular bit of discourse, but it's making the rounds again and a thing I realized that in actual writing this is at least controversial enough to bring out the Hot Takes.
Meanwhile in programming, I know (and have worked with) several professional programmers who outright refuse to read anyone else's code, and it's just a thing.
