Put briefly, I am a bullet-biting utilitarian. Morality is not socially constructed to me anymore than the laws of physics are, and saying they’re socially constructed because we talk about them and write them down is like saying that physics are socially constructed because we talk about them and write them down. Saying that it’s subjective because different people have different moral values is like saying that physics is subjective because some people believe the world is flat and others believe we live on the back of a turtle.

I don’t believe that I have all the answers by any means, and I’m sure I have many things wrong. But you don’t need a degree in physics to know that dropping a rock onto someone’s head is dangerous. There are things which clearly cause harm. And while there may be some crazy intersection of ethics we learn later than allows something to be justified, realistically there are many things we can come to very clear and practical conclusions about ethically.

I understand you reject larger moral frameworks and are simply sharing your position. I am sharing mine. I know people like you exist. I don’t like it but it’s a reality I’ve accepted. And I would rather work with you and try to make everyone happy than reject you and assume that would somehow make you disappear from reality. That’s not how it works. But I will make very clear my position that you are, in effectively the only measure that actually matters and is of any meaning in this universe, inferior.
