Did your 2nd gen #Chromecast brick yesterday? So did everyone else's!
There's a pretty solid explanation about what happened on reddit, but basically a certificate seems to have expired and updating it has a domino effect affecting many other Google product updates as well.
If Google wills, bricked Chromecasts should start working soon-ish, but this is, once again, a sad reminder that even if you buy hardware you don't necessarily actually own it nowadays.
