There remains though, the issue that net migration has been significant, and the UK population is predicted to grow for the next few years. One would expect that growth to be accompanied by infrastructure investment to accommodate more people. But in the context of austerity and constrained spending it implies that more people will have to do with less. I think people sense a contradiction there: Where are all the new homes, schools, hospitals, transport hubs...?
