#WordWeavers On a scale of 1-10 how safe is your world?
Maybe a 4. It's the Middle Ages. The biggest danger for everyone is illness, with famine running a close second. A poor harvest is a disaster. Child and infant mortality is high, many women die in childbirth. At least we're still 100 years earlier than the plague.
In the cities where my books are set, the authorities try to keep the peace, but everyone is armed and, given that ale is safer to drink than a lot of the water, a lot of people are inebriated. Fights are common, thieves and cutpurses are everywhere.
And since my books are murder mysteries, murder is rife.
