What’s my name?I am an australian breed of WORKING dog
originating in queensland in the 19th century
i am a medium sized dog
used to muster sheep and livestock
the first of my breed was black and tan with floppy ears,
today, my coat might be short, smooth or rough, and almost any colour from black to light tan or cream.
i might have a white blaze on the chest, or white points.
sometimes i have a double coat, which sheds out in spring in temperate climates
i was rumoured to be a descendent of smooth haired collies, and dingoes
a 2019 report that i have no dingo DNA was not quite correct — the genome study in question was only focused on traits like ear shape or coat colour
i am intelligent and easy to train, and my temperament makes me a good family pet — but i am easily bored and need to be kept busy
i have been exported to many countries including Argentina, Canada, Italy, Korea, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States for various pursuits.
By 1990, some of my kind had been trained as scent dogs with good success rates. In Sweden i have been widely used for tracking and rescue work.
