Low hanging fruit, extremely short term attention span for playing. Mobile gaming seems built around playing something for 3 minute spans that try to get people addicted to *actually* play for like 2 hours. So everything is built with fast, cheap “thrills” combined in short bursts of play.
The popular Battle Royale game is a great example. I got stuck on that for a few months way back when. Individual rounds are like a minute, but it gives you rewards and incentivizes to keep doing another, and another, and another. Roping you in with “I’ve only got 2 minutes to play model,” but trapping you with “instant rewards.”
Seems to be the way the platform has evolved. Kind of a terrible recipe for the quality of games, imo.
