I believe there isn't a limit to what you can pledge and the tiers just define what kinds of "rewards" exist, so you can do $5/mo (or w/e) if that's your preferred amount and you can also cancel immediately if you want to do a one-time thing.
I don't think Patreon as a good flow for one-time things and I don't have other stuff set up, although I should probably set up some ability to take btc or eth or something.
